DIRECTOR, BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Job Responsibilities:
The Board of Directors of the Silver City Food Co-op is the governing body of the Co-op and provides long range visioning, ensures the protection of the Co-op’s assets, monitors the General Manager against the developed policies and has a fiduciary responsibility to Co-op Members.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Board candidates should have….
- a commitment to a cooperative team approach
- effective communication skills, reading for meaning, writing with clarity, listening and speaking
- personal responsibility for meetings and board work
- sufficient time to devote to meetings, preparation and other work
- the ability to impartially consider issues before the Board
- commitment to the developed processes and procedures
Candidates:
Board candidates should….
- be a Co-op Member in good standing for at least 60 days prior to the end of the voting period
- have regular email access
- attend at least, 1-2 Board meetings prior to the application process
- talk to at least, 2 current Board Members prior to the application process, to better understand the actual time commitment
