The Board of Directors is made up of local co-op members who are elected by co-op membership to volunteer to influence and design the Co-op's vision for the future and outline policies for our Co-op to follow.

DIRECTOR, BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Job Responsibilities:

The Board of Directors of the Silver City Food Co-op is the governing body of the Co-op and provides long range visioning, ensures the protection of the Co-op’s assets, monitors the General Manager against the developed policies and has a fiduciary responsibility to Co-op Members.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

Board candidates should have….

  • a commitment to a cooperative team approach
  • effective communication skills, reading for meaning, writing with clarity, listening and speaking
  • personal responsibility for meetings and board work
  • sufficient time to devote to meetings, preparation and other work
  • the ability to impartially consider issues before the Board
  • commitment to the developed processes and procedures

Candidates:

Board candidates should….

  • be a Co-op Member in good standing for at least 60 days prior to the end of the voting period
  • have regular email access
  • attend at least, 1-2 Board meetings prior to the application process
  • talk to at least, 2 current Board Members prior to the application process, to better understand the actual time commitment
