Events
The 7th Cooperative Principle is “Concern for Community”. The Silver City Food Co-op lives up to this principle by being actively involved in our community through a variety of outreach programs, community forums, sponsorships and donations, as well as participation in community events.
The Silver City Food Co-op supports and takes part in these community events:
- Red Paint Pow Wow
- Chocolate Fantasia, a fundraiser for the Mimbres Region Arts Council
- Celebration of Spring and the Taste of Downtown hosted by the Silver City Mainstreet Project
- Earth Day Celebration at Penny Park
- Tour of the Gila bicycle race
- Silver City Blues Festival and the Pickamania Bluegrass Festivals hosted by the Mimbres Region Arts Council
- Tapestry of Talent fashion show hosted by Southwest Women’s Fiber Arts Collective
- Viva Verde Expo, a weekend long educational conference on “Green Living in Southern New Mexico” hosted by the Gila Resources Information Project.
- Gila Water Festival hosted by the Gila Conservation Education Center
- Gila River Festival hosted by the Upper Gils Watershed Alliance
- WNMU Jazz Festival
- Silver City Short Film Festival
- Friend’s of the Library’s Annual Literacy Alive event
- Grant County Health Fair
In addition, the Silver City Food Co-op is committed to providing an ongoing venue for education. Each month we host Community Forums with guest speakers in our Community Room which are free and open to the community. |
