My interest in serving the Silver City Food Co-op stems from a deeply ingrained commitment to cooperative values and a serious passion for all aspects of food production, from seed to table. I bring to the board experience in community gardening, education and group dynamics. I am very much inspired by the opportunity to help nurture and grow our Co-op, our local food system, and our community.

I first moved to Silver City in January 1974 to attend college at WNMU and became involved with the co-op in 1977, when it was located in what is now the Twisted Vine. At that time you had to volunteer your time in order to shop at the co-op.  From October 2007 to April 2008, I worked as an employee of our co-op. During that time I became inspired by what I learned about coop- eratives and how important it is to take part in a cooperatively owned business. During 2006 I was the on-site manager for the Farmers’ Market in Silver City. Meeting the local farmers and growers in our community helped me understand how important it is for us all to have access to fresh fruit and vegetables available in our local area.
